Dear Mrs. T’s Class,
Thank you for sending Stanley to visit us. He had a wonderful time
visiting California. He was very curious about our state, and he learned a lot
while he was here. We hope you enjoy his book of favorite memories.
Love, Harry and Mindy

Our nephew, Kadin, sent us Flat Stanley, who is based on a character from a book by Jeff Brown. In the story, Stanley is flattened by a bulletin board and soon learns one advantage of being flat is that you can be mailed anywhere! Yesterday we buckled Stanley in the car and drove him to Santa Cruz. Stanley learned that Santa Cruz is home to towering redwood trees, furry sea otters, and other amazing marine life.
A recap of our adventures:
Stanley with his adopted uncle and aunt.

Stanley was fascinated by the power of the ocean.

Stanley was also very impressed with the surfers riding the ocean waves.

He watched the ocean in awe for hours.

Next, Stanley hopped on this local surfer’s board and asked him for a ride! {Thanks, local surfer!}

While in California, Stanley also learned about a CA law that was passed in 2008. According to state law, it is illegal for drivers to talk on their cell phones while driving.

Stanley takes the law into his own hands. He cracks down on Harry for talking on his cell. Notice the handcuffs.

Stanley dreams of playing in the Pro Am at Pebble Beach next month. Keep swinging the clubs, Stanley.
We said our goodbyes to Stanley this afternoon. He hopped into an envelope and headed back home to Alabama. He will be missed.![]()
